I love it, I would like to learn to do it. I’ve seen the others tutorials, how can i get the pattern, it would be possible?

Sure, I’d be happy to write a tutorial for you. Which one did you like? The tornados (top) or the whirlygigs (bottom)?

Thank you so much. I would like the tornados (top). You are very generous :-)

    Thanks!!!

Good morning Becca. I just discovered your blog on japanese bookbinding and noticed that you told Sonia that the Tornados and Whirlygigs would be on this site as a tutorial. I have not been able to locate it and would love to make this for our Calligraphy Guild annual picnic and book exchange. Is it still available? Thanks a bunch. Ginny, Elkhart, Indiana

Sure, the tornados tutorial can be found here: https://beccamakingfaces.com/2011/11/22/japanese-stab-binding-tutorial-tornados/
Was that the one you are looking for? The whirlygigs is the design on the bottom…it has not been made into a tutorial yet.

I would love to see a whirlygigs tutorial

      Hi Andy,
I’m not sure the whirlygigs will ever be a tutorial-it was an experiment that didn’t turn out quite like I’d hoped…and I’m not sure how I’d explain via diagram how I did it! Maybe one day if I get into video tutorials…

    dear Becca

started classes of bookbinding and was looking for a more ‘special’ stab. And that’s how I got on your website. Could you pass me the pattern of the wirlygigs please?

    thank you so much

Hi Isabel, glad you are enjoying the patterns on my site! Unfortunately, I don’t have a written pattern for the whirlygigs at this time.
